Directions

Step 1) Take a piece of cloth and cut it into a rectangle about 2 inches high and 4 inches long. (remember to be very careful with the scissors!)  Set this piece of cloth to the side for later, it will become a skirt for your doll.

Step 2) Take the tall grass and bundle it together by wraping some string around it.  Start by wraping some string about 1 inch from the top.  Then wrap some more string about 2 inches lower from where you wrapped the first string.  This will form the head of your doll.

Step 3) Now take the skirt you created from the piece of cloth and place it around the bundle of grass at about where the doll's waist would be.   Wrap some string around it to hold it there.

Step 4) Split the remaining grass below the skirt into 2 equal smaller sized bundles.  These will become the doll's legs.  Tie some string around these smaller bundles near the bottom, where the feet would be.

Step 5) Take the scissors and very carefully cut a few strands of grass on the right side of the doll directly above the waist. Gently pull these strands of grass to the side to form an arm for the doll.  Tie some string around the bottom of these strands where the hand would be.  Tie more string towards the top where the shoulder would be.

Step 6) Do the same thing you did in Step 5 but on the left side of the doll to form a left arm

Step 7)  The main part of your doll has now been created. Now use your imagination to finish it. For example, you can try making a mouth, nose or eyes out of paper or small stones and then add it to your doll using glue or tape.   Or you can try painting the doll's face or hair.  Remember, it's your doll!
