Mr. Jim Tomaszewski Dear Jim: Thank you for your enlightening talk before our Club on January 6, 2000. I hope you can appreciate that our small but lively group has always had children's safety foremost in its thoughts. Not only are we parents, but many of us are also cornmunity leaders and very active in promoting a number of community-based programs. As you pointed out, many school districts have a safety program in place, which captures the students from the time they enter into school through, and including graduation. Yet, your Organization has found a very pertinent nich--the preschool and infancy stages, where these concepts can be effectively introduced. It is amazing to see how the concept of a character helps convey the message, particularly when it is delivered with song and dance and catchy rhymes. Many in our generation had Howdy Doody, Buffalo Bob, Captain Kangaroo, and of course, Shari Lewis' Lamb Chop! Please accept our best wishes for the continued success of your Program and, more importantly, the safety of each and every child who receives the important message from the "lil'iguana." Very truly yours, Patrick M. McGrath
